But now when I talked to homeschoolers I came to know that they have skipped the idea of grading to their children because according to them, they just want their kids to learn the idea or concept of any specific topic and when the kids will learn it, they can move forward with other subjects. They think that grading doesn’t matter for them. But sometimes parents do grade the children when there are some valid reasons. For Example, many places want the grade of the kids to get student discounts, and children also love to get grades because it increases their motivation.

What kind of homeschool grade should you give?

Some parents love to give full credit to their children and some parents do not give full credit. For example, in the subject of math, parents can provide their kids with two chances. If they have a correction in the first attempt and if they correct it in the second attempt, they will get full credit. Some parents don’t find it enough, so they prefer to give only one chance and ask the kid to amend the mistakes they have made.

It can not only happen with the kids, sometimes we as a person also grade our performance. For Example, when we are working in a kitchen or in how much time do we complete a task. In all these ways we help ourselves by giving grades. Or sometimes we ask others to grade us. For the kids, you can also go with pass/fail or need improvement/satisfaction. It will help them to learn where they need to enrich themselves.

You can also start giving grades on the level of work the kid will be doing. For example, if the kid has been working on something big with full dedication and devotion, then the kid surely deserves an A. But if he hasn’t worked that hard on the topic or subject then you can go with a B.
